Greg the cat has asked if he could have his own page to release extracts from his diary (originally in the 'Bulletin') and we thought that since he had been having a hard time recently we said OK - just this once!

Here I am again, your old friend, Greg, the church cat.

THE CAT'SPAW SAGA... Bad news, confirmed. I've had it. Sacked, contract terminated, job finished, desk cleared, shown the door. The editor told me I had no future with this journal. Said it was all right to contribute occasionally but absurd to think I could have a permanent column. Also said my reflections were over the top. So my brief excursion into journalism is over. I wonder if I have a case for unjust dismissal. The problem is that industrial tribunals don't deal with cross species cases, so I think it's a dead duck. I paid another visit to the vet. I'm improving but I'm still heavily bandaged. It's very awkward because my broken paw is two inches longer than the other ones. The result is I wobble or lurch. I've had more cards - pictures of Egyptian cats, Japanese cats, as well as European cats. I also had one of a poor hedgehog with more bandages than I have. He looked very sorry for himself. I don't meet hedgehogs very often. We don't fratenize. Understandably I think. Prickly customers.

I had a nice experience. I was blessed by an American priest who conducted a healing service here and I got a get well card from his cat, Spike, in New Jersey. Anyway, the vet said the bandage could well be taken off in ten days time. Actually, I got it off myself earlier and had to be rushed to the vet for a replacement. Mild air of crisis around the monastery. But I'm on the road to recovery and I hope to see you in church shortly. Thanks again for all your interest, good wishes, cards and donations. Thanks to the friend who sent £10. This means there's £15 in the kitty! But to close with a little secret. I am likely to be making an appearance in a highclass local journal. Can't say too much at the moment as negotiations are still in progress but watch the newstands.

Greg's column may have been axed in the Bulletin, but he will continue to have his very own cat-size soap-box here! Webmaster
